Sewing shrink-wrapped magnets with a sewing machine

For many applications (such as magnetic closures, for example), you will need a pair of magnets; hence, the magnets are available in pairs on a plastic strip. The plastic strip separates the magnet pairs and makes handling easier. Below are a few tips to help you sew these magnets with your sewing machine:

Peel off two opposite magnets from the strip and leave them joined together.

How exactly do sew-in magnets work?

Our magnets are ideal for use as magnetic fasteners for sewing on clothing, bags, pouches, etc. The models are delivered in packaging units as already described. For the closure to hold, you must "attract" the magnets for sewing. For example, if you use a pair of magnets that repel each other, the magnetic closure will not work.

What can you use strong magnets for sewing?

Our sew-in magnets are suitable for various applications. They are particularly useful, for example, when a zipper on a piece of clothing or a bag no longer works. You can simply sew our magnet models into the fabric at suitable points instead of the original fastener. There they keep the closure opening reliably closed but can also be easily pulled apart again. This significantly increases the lifespan and utility of utensils and clothing.

The same goes for button closures that have worn out over the years. Typical everyday items and garments that you can repair using our sew-in magnets include: Jackets, Gym bag, Carrying bags, Shoulder bags, Pillow and duvet covers, Wallet

Are there instructions for sewing magnets into fabric?

Always use magnets in pairs. If you attach several models close to each other, you can even create a kind of magnetic tape to sew in. All you need to attach the models is a sewing machine or needle and thread. You should proceed as follows:

Step 1: Take two attractive sew-in magnets and attach them together.

Step 2: Then sew the lower magnet onto the fabric – the upper magnet shields the magnetic field. As a result, the two parts do not get caught on the foot part of the sewing machine.

Step 3: Then sew the upper pocket magnet into the fabric as a counterpart – done!

Can you machine wash magnets to sew in?

You can generally wash our sew-in disc magnets without any problems because the waterproof PVC film protects them from corrosion. However, since many washing machines are magnetic, caution is still required. To avoid damage, it makes sense to wash the magnetic clothing in a laundry bag and use the delicate program.
